Along with the Green Trường Sơn project, for the past two weeks, the LMX team has been putting in all efforts to work with the Vân Kiều, Tà Ôi, K’Tu, and Kinh people living in 5 buffer-zone communes of the Sao La Conservation Area. Together, we have been surveying, learning, discussing, guiding, and planning to sustainably plant and harvest at least 40,000 trees of Homalomena and 10,000 trees Melaleuca of this year.
These are the materials that create the special value of the Sao La balm boxes produced by LMX. Although there have been hardships and damages (thorn injuries, slipping, broken cameras, ruined shoes, etc.), we are happy and grateful as the local people have shared lychees, grapefruits, Đoác wine, and honey with us, which we can bring back. More than 200 households from 6 villages and 7 communities have enthusiastically participated with the hope of increasing income from community forests. The LMX team is determined to turn this hope into reality as soon as possible, contributing to the restoration of the Trường Sơn forests.
